Congratulations to our 2023-2024 Committee of the Year

This committee went above and beyond to extend the mission of the league.

The Touch-a-Truck committee has been awarded the Committee of the Year for their outstanding dedication and hard work. This incredible team spent eight months meticulously planning and organizing, showcasing their commitment to community engagement and education.

The Touch-a-Truck event, held in May 2024, featured over 35 different vehicles, 10 food trucks, and more than 20 vendors. This free, family-friendly event provided children with hands-on learning opportunities to explore a variety of vehicles and meet the people who help build, protect, and serve our community. The committee also organized a free book giveaway to promote early childhood literacy, distributing thousands of children’s books.

In addition to the vehicles and book giveaway, the event included a Family Fun Zone with inflatable activities, face painting, balloon twisting, a misting tent, sensory tent, craft station, and DJ entertainment. The committee secured all sponsorships, vendors, and vehicles. 

The success of the Touch-a-Truck event can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the committee members: Chair Vickie Stephens, Co-Chair Britney Miller, and committee members Ariel Brown, Kia Glenn, Shayla Robinson, Dawn Adams, Dominique Sawyer, and Karen Eubanks. Their tireless work and passion for community service have made a significant impact, earning them the well-deserved recognition as Committee of the Year.
