Educating JLDB Members during Governance and Leadership Training

The education and training the Junior League of Daytona Beach provides to our volunteers is what sets us apart from other volunteer organizations. Education and training is at the heart of everything we do. According to our mission statement: The Junior League of Daytona Beach is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

It means that we take seriously the task of preparing women to be knowledgeable and confident civic leaders. The foundation laid through Junior League training has lifetime benefits for women in their professional lives and in community engagement.

Some examples of Education and Training JLDB provides members include:

AJLI Conferences occur throughout the year, and each fall and spring, JLDB sends members to the Organizational Development Institutes (ODI) and the Small Leagues Big Impact (SLBI) conferences. At these events, members follow different learning tracks and interact with other Leagues to share ideas and bring home new ideas to better their League.

General Membership Meetings provide training and general League information in a large group setting. Speakers are often brought in to educate, inform, and inspire.

Committee Placements are a source of training by their nature. Volunteers can receive a variety of training in each of our placement opportunities. Members have the opportunity to choose placements so they can choose ways to impact their own development goals.

New Member Class teaches the newest members about JLDB and the importance and impact of our community involvement.

Full Council Retreat/Meetings offer committee chairs and board members an orientation to leadership within JLDB and provides information on how to be an effective leader and committee chair.
